Jennifer Manoukian, Language Instructor & Course Developer

Jennifer Manoukian is the Armenian language instructor and course developer at Rutgers University. She earned her PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2023. Her research focuses on nineteenth-century Ottoman Armenian language practices and ideologies. Jennifer is also a literary translator from Western Armenian and a graduate of the Rutgers Armenian Studies Program. Email: jmanouki@connect.rutgers.edu

Asbed Vassilian, Language Instructor Emeritus

Asbed Vassilian was the Armenian language instructor at Rutgers University from 1992 to 2018. He was raised in the Armenian community of Aleppo, Syria where he attended the Karen Jeppe Armenian School. Vassilian earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in chemistry from the American University of Beirut. He began teaching in the Department of Chemistry at Rutgers in 1978.
